After a busy year putting on fundraising events, completing risk assessments and booking bands and entertainment, Wadebridge Carnival Committee were not going to let a bit of rain stop Carnival Day!
Considering the weather, there was a fantastic turnout and the committee have expressed their thanks to the Wadebridge community for supporting the carnival and braving the rain. A carnival committee spokesperson said: “We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout for carnival entrants, and everyone that took part in the parade looked amazing and had worked so hard on their costumes and floats. There was an air of excitement and a real buzz around the town. It was so lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves and celebrating our town - it’s exactly what a carnival is all about!
“We are only a small committee and hope we did Wadebridge proud. We couldn’t do it without the support from all the people who have given up their time to help throughout the year and on carnival day, and we want to say a huge thank you to each one of you - you know who you are!”
The committee is already planning next year’s carnival, but there is a need for new members. With some of the committee leaving having supported it for more than five years, new members are needed to take on key roles and ensure the carnival can continue for years to come. If you’re interested in volunteering your time to support this much-loved community event, come along to meet the committee on Friday, 8th September from 7pm at the Churchill Bars and find out what’s involved and how you can help!
